  • £5 to sponsor a horse,
  • £3 to sponsor a jockey.
  •  Winning horse sponsor gets £10, winning jockey gets £5.

  • Race sponsors now only £20 as difficult to sell last year and now we are in the ‘recession’

  • Please ensure the completed sheet along with money handed back in at next meeting 2nd March. In addition, money from ticket sales as well.

I have said it before but will say it again; we need every age group to support this event. We want to fill then club and get some serious money raise. It is cheap beer prices in a location quite central, so no excuses. The only cost for the evening is £165 for Doncaster Cinema Services and a small cost for production of tickets and programme. All the rest is profit. We should be clearing at least £1000

Thanks for your support   Chris.

Subs

It has been decided that because some teams have still not collected their subscriptions despite several requests, that stern action will now be taken against theses teams, so it is in your best interest to make sure all money has been collected. If you have any problems so please see the committee ASAP.

Thornes Juniors Clubhouse

You may not have heard anything about this for a while but your committee has been very busy working for you to get funding for the new clubhouse. We can report that the plans have been passed and we now have planning permission to enable us to go ahead and apply for funding from the Football Foundation and Brian and his colleagues have requested an appointment to see the Football Development Officer.  We are going to form a small committee to help get this application through and if you feel you would like to help, please contact either John or Brian.

GALA 2009 BBQ

Last year we were lucky to have some very good volunteers to run a BBQ, which made us a great deal of money. Unfortunately, they are not available this year so we would like to hear from anyone who can help put on a BBQ again, if so we would give them any support or help we can. Please Contact Brian

Thornes under 10’s Scorpions

After a very close first half, and some very controversial decisions in the second half  Scorpions eventually went down 6-0 away to Wakefield Jets, Some fine play from fullback Jack Higgs earned him the man of the match award

RESPECT Campaign

We are sure by now that everyone will have heard about the respect campaign.

The Football Association is trying to introduce into all areas of football. The club fully supports respect. We have “downloaded” the following codes of conduct from the FA website. ( www.thefa.com ) We ask that all our members, spectators / parents / carers, managers / coaches / helpers take time to read the following to ensure that we follow the advice given to ensure the future of football in this country.

YOUNG PLAYERS - RESPECT

It is important for everyone to behave themselves when playing football. As a player, you have a big part to play. That is why The FA is asking every player to follow a Respect Code of Conduct.

When playing football, I will:

  • Always do my best, even if we’re losing or the other team is stronger
  • Play fairly – I won’t cheat, complain or waste time
  • Never be rude to my team-mates, the other team, the referee, spectators or my coach/team manager
  • Do what the referee tells me
  • Shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of the game
  • Listen to my coach/team manager and respect what he/she says
  • Talk to someone I trust, for example my parents or club welfare officer if I am unhappy about anything at my club.

I understand that if I do not follow the code, action may be taken.

SPECTATORS AND PARENTS / CARERS - RESPECT

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. This club is supporting The FA’s Respect campaign is there to ensure football can be enjoyed by everyone, in a safe and positive environment. Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of conduct for spectators and parents/carers at all times.

I will:

  • Remain outside the field of play and behind the Designated Spectator Area (where provided).
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success.

In addition, when attending youth games I will:

  • Remember that children play for FUN
  • Let the coaches do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do
  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition and match officials
  • Never criticise a player for making a mistake –mistakes are part of learning.

I understand that breaches of the code may result in action being taken by my Club, County FA and /or The FA.

ADULT PLAYERS - RESPECT

Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct for players at all times.

On and off the field, I will:

  • Adhere to the Laws of the Game
  • Display and promote high standards of behaviour
  • Promote fair play and behave within the spirit of the Laws of the Game
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Never engage in public criticism of the match officials
  • Never engage in offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour
  • Avoid bullying, intimidation and poor behaviour
  • Speak to my team-mates, the opposition and my coach/manager with respect
  • Ask my team captain to talk to the referee if I have a problem relating to the game
  • Remember we all make mistakes
  • Shake hands with the opposing team and the match officials at the end of every game.

I understand that breaches of the code may result in action being taken by my Club, County FA and /or The FA.

COACHES, TEAM MANAGERS AND CLUB OFFICIALS - RESPECT

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. In The FA’s survey of over 37,000 grassroots participants, behaviour was the biggest concern in the game. This included both the abuse of match officials and the unacceptable behaviour by over competitive parents, spectators and coaches on the sidelines. The FA’s Respect programme is aimed at tackling unacceptable behaviour across the whole game.

Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct for coaches, team managers and club officials at all times.

I will:

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators
  • Adhere to the Laws of the Game
  • Display and promote high standards of behaviour
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission
  • Never engage in public criticism of the match officials
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.

When working with players, I will:

  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning
  • Explain exactly what I expect of players and what they can expect from me
  • Ensure the parents/carers of all players under the age of 18 understand these expectations
  • Refrain from, and refuse to tolerate any form of bullying
  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self esteem
  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
  • Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, experience, age and maturity
  • Co-operate fully with others in football (e.g. officials, doctors, physiotherapists, welfare officers) for each player’s best interests.

I understand that breaches of the code may result in action being taken by my Club, County FA and /or The FA.

Thank you for taking your time to read the above and we look forward to maintaining your support to respect program.

The Club Committee.
